Synopsis
When their estranged father dies, Nell, Agnes and Roo Calloway inherit the Skerry Point light, a debt they cannot pay and forty years of handwritten logbooks. As a winter of storms closes in, the sisters read the entries aloud each night and begin to piece together the one rescue their father never wrote down. Warm, sharp and full of weather, it is a novel about the things families keep burning for each other.

Slow start, glorious finish
The first fifty pages ask for a little patience. Give it to them. By the halfway mark I was rationing chapters.

Our book club argued for two hours
Everyone had a different favourite character and nobody agreed about the ending, which is exactly what you want from a club pick.

Not quite for me
Well written and I can see why people love it, but it did not grab me the way I hoped. I would still try the next one.

Ordered Monday, collected Wednesday
Asked at the counter, collected two days later with a bookmark tucked inside. The book itself is a joy.
